The path to what is now known as 'Ohana Fitness and Wellness' started. It was a year ago that I contacted NASM to get registered for my courses to become certified as a personal trainer and nutrition coach.
I didn't know what this would look like, and to be honest, it is still growing and evolving. But what I did know was I wanted to help people. People who felt stuck. Who were tired. People who didn't know what to do to address their health.
The driving force behind this venture for me was really rooted in the rehabilitation of my second ankle surgery. I was going stir crazy not being able to run or bike. I had to find a way to lift weights without putting any weight on my right leg. It was my own personal background and experience lifting that was my saving grace as I was able to modify upper body weight lifting moves.
It was this minor thing that started me looking into how many accessible workout options exist. From what I found, not many. If you had a baseline of knowledge in the fitness space, you could make something work based off programs/guidelines that are out there. But if you don't, well, sorry about your luck. I wanted to be able to help people who don't have that knowledge. Or maybe, need a specific plan due to a limitation they may have. I wanted to be able to help people who had just been released from physical therapy without being ready to jump fully back into solo workouts.
There is so much to breakdown in the fitness world; what exercises to do, what to pair together, what to eat, when to eat. I'm here to help take the guesswork out of all of that.
